Job-Related Loan Discharge
There are several job-related cancellation programs offered to discharge your federal loans if you are working in public service and helping type of professions. Most federal loans are qualified for some kind of relief, with the Perkins Loans offering the most choices.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
If you have been a full-time Public Service employee for ten years or more, you may be eligible for PSLF if you took out a Direct Loan (including Stafford, PLUS, and consolidation loans), are not in default, and if you repay your loan through an eligible repayment plan. After your ten years of full-time Public Service is completed, the balance owed on your loans is qualified to be discharged. If your income over the prior ten years were low enough that you have not managed to pay off your federal student loans, this option would benefit you a great deal. If you did not have a Direct Loan, you could consolidate into a Direct Loan to try to qualify for PSLF.
A “Public Service Job” is defined as a job with federal, state, local or tribal government organizations, public child or family service agencies, 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, or tribal colleges or universities should be considered “public service jobs.” Government employers include the military and public schools and colleges. Time spent serving in a full-time Americorps or Peace Corps position will also count toward the ten-year repayment requirement. If you are working for certain other organizations that provide any of the following services: emergency management; military services; public safety; law enforcement; public interest law services; public child care; public service for individuals with disabilities and the elderly; public health; public education; public library services; and school library or other school-based services. Not all organizations providing these services will qualify. Businesses organized for profit, labor unions, partisan political organizations, organizations engaged in religious activities (unless the qualifying activities are unrelated to religious instruction, worship services or any form of proselytizing) are excluded.
Teacher Loan Forgiveness (TLF)
If you teach or have taught full-time for five years consecutively in certain low-income school districts, you may qualify to have a portion of your loan canceled through the TLF Program. TLF applies to loans taken out on or after October 1, 1998, that are FFEL Stafford Loans, Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized Loans, and some Consolidation Loans. Up to $5,000 may be canceled, and in other cases, up to $17,500 can be canceled if you teach five years consecutively as highly qualified math or science teacher at eligible secondary schools or as special education teachers at eligible elementary or secondary schools. If you are a teacher that is employed by an educational services agency, you may also be qualified for Forgiveness. Perkins loans may be entirely canceled for full-time teachers working at low-income schools or teaching certain subject areas. Many teachers will even qualify for PSLF as described above.
There are also Teacher Grant Programs, known as “TEACH GRANTS.” These grants allow for up to $4,000 on an annual basis to students who agree to teach full-time in a high-need field at a public or private elementary or secondary schools in low-income districts. Recipients of these grants must teach for at least 4 out of 8 years of which the TEACH Grant was given.

Why Choose Dramer Law for Your Student Loan Debt Relief Needs?
Debt is Our Specialty
Other companies and law firms offer debt relief – we specialize in it! We do not offer any services that aren’t strictly related with clients that are struggling financially so our clients have unique needs, compared to those of other law firms, that we can cater to. We offer all debt relief options and we service our clients like family. You should never settle for less when trying to settle for less!
Lower Fees
Since our clients don’t have tons of money to spare like attorneys that practice in other areas of law, we charge low fees making our services affordable for anyone that needs help. Unless your case involves one of our attorneys having to go to court, our negotiation service fees are flat fee based not charged hourly.
One on One Client Service
All of our client relationships are One on One. You’ll have one individual client service representative that will be your point of contact and you’ll build a relationship with them so they’ll know exactly what you are going through. Aside from treating you with the upmost care possible, this means you won’t have to deal with multiple people and re-explain your situation to a different person each time you call. This saves time for you and eliminates any extra stress for you as time is money and being stress free is just as important as being debt free!
Client Service Response Time
All of our attorneys, paralegals, and negotiators are dedicated to providing the best possible experience, while achieving results. We are available long hours but should we happen to be unavailable for any reason we pride ourselves on returning calls and emails right away, not several days later like most attorneys.
Our Reputation
Many companies do nothing for the high fees they charge. We have heard many horror stories. These companies aren’t proactive, they put no effort into negotiations, they don’t even return your calls let alone calls from collectors! These actions cause collectors to seek other measures to collect, often meaning lawsuits. We typically work repeatedly with the same companies and are known for resolving accounts so therefore have a great reputation with industry lenders and collectors. This benefits you when we contact these companies on your behalf, they know the accounts will get resolved and therefore we are usually able to avoid legal action!
Other Services
Many times, when we successfully get our clients out of debt, they still need assistance with other areas of their financial life. We offer many different services for those struggling with debts including Business Debt Relief, Mortgage Relief, Tax Relief, & Student Loan Relief. When Debt is the Problem – We Have the Answers!
